Munich, Algeciras, January 27, 2025 - As part of the European AspBAN (Atlantic Smart Ports Blue Acceleration Network) project, the Port of Algeciras, managed by the Port of Algeciras Bay Authority (APBA), and Isarsoft have launched a pilot project to optimize traffic flow analysis.
The Port of Algeciras is a central hub for global trade. Efficient traffic flow management is essential to optimize operations. Using Isarsoft's video analysis software, real-time data will be collected to address challenges in traffic management.
“This pilot project with the Port of Algeciras is a significant milestone for Isarsoft. It highlights our commitment to providing intelligent solutions for a more efficient and sustainable infrastructure,”
says Oskar Haller, CEO of Isarsoft.
Expected Outcomes
The Port of Algeciras expects the following outcomes from the project:
- Utilization of AI to automatically detect relevant events through the analysis of images and videos sourced from APBA's image-capture system (SCI)—without the use of special devices requiring external interaction (such as sensors, tags, beacons, etc.).
- Conducting tests with a real-time monitoring and analysis platform for traffic flows at the Port of Algeciras.
- Gaining detailed insights into the behavior of road traffic within port facilities to minimize traffic congestion and improve the quality of services offered.
- Evaluating key performance indicators to provide high-quality information to transport companies in the future, facilitating their decision-making during their stay at the port, enhancing operational efficiency, and simultaneously reducing traffic-related emissions.
About AspBAN
The Atlantic Smart Ports Blue Acceleration Network (AspBAN) is a project that has been granted funding by the European Union. Focused on developing a dynamic acceleration platform, AspBAN helps EU Atlantic ports work as blue economy hubs.
By becoming the main playground for the development of new blue companies, EU Atlantic Ports have the opportunity to diversify their revenue sources and work towards a sustainable ocean economy.
Ports are one of the primary interfaces with the ocean, which means they will play a strategic role as launchpads for a new generation of blue companies.
